Online Interactivity Analysis

The first web site that caught my eye was, what I thought was the bionic woman program however the more I analysed the pages the more I realised that it was more of an interactive game and an amusement for users rather then a formative site.

The main point of why I chose this web site was based on the whole image and look. On first impressions of the site I thought it gave out an image of a hospital room. Every interactive piece looked like a piece of mechanical equipment that help’s users get into character. What I liked about this site is that the user is the main character. The interactive voice talks to the users in first person which I feel, is a conscious decision. Using this approach interacts with the users and keeps them interested.

As soon as I entered the web site a clear introduction (a short film) was shown giving me a clear view on what part I was playing on the website. Whilst the pages were loading voice interaction was inputted, acting as, what was suppose to be my (the users) doctor giving out clear instructions what had gone on and why the site was in that certain setting. The whole website is aimed to test your ‘bionic powers’ the instructions are clearly stated on what the user had to do and how to play the games. Overall I found it very user friendly and found it easy to understand what the website was about and what the aim of the site was.

I have never seen the program bionic woman before and I found that the content of the website gave the users a rough view on what the program is about and what the website is about. A positive point that I found was that the short intro film puts the users into character straight away. Like I said above the whole imagery is relevant to the program, including the pholie used gave me a more clearer view on what the website was about. However, I felt the website lacked facts and information about the program. There are no credits to whom created the program, who acts in the show etc. so even though the imagery and pholie helped me gain an idea on the genre of the program it does not actually tell me what the program is about leaving me to only guess what the site is about.

The content of the website is organised/designed in an easy to understand layout starting off with the introduction on what the content of the website will be about. The content is set in a step by step process, by doing this helps the user gradually gain more knowledge on what the content of the site is about. In my opinion I feel that the design of the website helps make the content more relevant to what the website is based on.

The whole design of the website itself is very strong and gives out a strong reflection on what the site is about, an example of this would be the main scene of the website (in a hospital, where bionic woman first starts). The sound effects also helps reflect the identity of the website. If however, if I was to change the design to reflect the identity more then I would probably include a logo or a title because I feel that it lacks an actual brand identity.

The main reason why I chose this website was because of the strong interactive elements that make this site so successful. These interactive elements include sound, imagery, AV and gaming. The gaming is the main point of the website, giving the user five different games to complete to test their bionic skills. What I like about the games is that each user gets a personal score to how well they perform. The gaming elements are very successful because it keeps the user involved and interested in the site and for interactive site this makes it successful.
